Thanksgiving Baskets

Each year our church gathers a list of families who are in need of food--people from our local community not just our church body.  As a group, we gather together and make food baskets.  These food baskets are then delivered to each of the families in need.  Included in each basket is a coupon for a FREE turkey.  A free thanksgiving meal.

As a family, this was our first year participating in the basket preparation and delivery.

When it was all done we delivered three of the nearly 100 baskets.  Truly a beautiful thing.  Meeting real needs.

Thank you, LORD, for caring.  For giving.  For making this possible.

Thankful Tree

We made a Thankful Tree today.  It went something like this...

We painted large sheets of freezer paper.  I crumpled up the paper then flattened it out to give it texture.
Little D watched with marked curiosity.
Passion.  Determination.  Intensity.
It was too cold.  The paint was not drying.  We had to intervene.
 Then we traced the leaves.
And cut them out.
Then we wrote what we were thankful for on them.
Lastly, we put them on the tree (brown paper bag) on the wall.

Wow, we are certainly blessed.  Thank you, LORD.

Nana's Kidney

I have more than one blog.  Here's another one:

My parents are slated for surgery on December 6.  My dad is giving up a kidney (to someone we do not know) and my mom is receiving a kidney (from someone we do not know).  Feel free to follow that journey in the link above (the picture).  Your prayers are a sweet, sweet treasure to me and my family.

Because of His love,

Christmas Shopping on Amazon

Feel free to do your Amazon shopping here.  Here?  Yes.  Scroll down the right-hand toolbar over there and locate this:

Then shop for whatever you intended to purchase.  I get advertising fees for your purchase.  Your purchase price does not increase at all.  Amazon simply says 'thank you' to me for putting that button there; they add money to my Amazon Associates Account.  You get what you want and I get college books at a discount (thanks to you).  So, shop away...if that's what you planned on doing already.

Something New

Beloved friends and followers, I wanted to let you know that I will be slowing down the number of posts I add to this blog in this current season.  My husband and I just mailed off our applications to The Master's College.  We plan to enroll in their MABC program (Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling).  My husband yearns to serve the LORD in full-time ministry.  I pray that I can be a suitable helpmate for him in this journey as we yearn to serve couples, individuals, teens, young adults, and children as they address issues that plague the heart.  We want to counsel them in God's Word as He has authored.

So, I'm not falling off the face of the earth completely.  You may see me in the Summer issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine (pending any last minute changes the editor may foresee).  And, If the LORD should author, I'll be back here from time to time.  In due time, He'll show me.

If you happen to think of me from time to time, please pray:
  • that the LORD would strengthen me and equip me for the journey He has called me to,
  • that my passion would be to please Him above all others,
  • that the details of my home would be pleasing to Him,
  • that I would serve Him excellently all of my days,
  • that I would joyfully delegate without control when and where necessary,
  • that Christ would be exalted in ALL of the circumstances that come my way, and
  • that Jason and I would take time to pause -- may we purposefully sit at His feet.
Beloved, let me leave you with this exhortation:
“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse.  And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.” (Mark 2:21-22)

Roller Skating

My parents took our crew roller skating last Saturday.  We had a bang up time (pun intended).  If you haven't been roller skating in like 15 or 20 years...I highly recommend it.  Enjoy the ride.

I didn't take my camera (on purpose)   I was using my mom's point-and-shoot.  Here are the fun images I captured on our Saturday adventure.  Enjoy.

Wow!  These disco balls have seen some disco fever in their day.

FROM BIG R: "I loved it!"
